"Listen
George" -
Randy Burns
June 19, 2002
Once again, it's time for you to stop talking. Yes George, you. With your father allowing Saddam to remain in power, and you shooting off your big mouth about getting Iraq now, we've lost that possibility. Yes, you Georges have cost us one ally after another until now. Why now? Because you shut your damn mouth about Iraq, George. Look, man, it's this simple. Take France, nobody likes the assholes anyway, I'll concede that. However, when somebody's offered to help you move, you don't start handing out beers to everyone but France. It's the help and support you need, not the beer you'll be saving.
But you know that ..
You attempted to misdirect our attention too soon. You panicked. Or maybe you've conceded the war on terrorism in Afghanistan, and you've conceded your lack of political influence in Israel as well. So, you remembered how easy the Gulf War was for your dad, and said to yourself, "Hell, I need a win!" Yes George, you need a win, no argument there. Your untimely verbal outbursts stating your intentions toward Iraq, almost cost us every ally we've ever had!
Don't you have anyone, anywhere, whose opinions you value? Cheney? No, you couldn't value his or anyone else's. I'm sure you were told to cool it on Iraq. You'll just have to show us the value behind your self proclaimed success, before you threaten Iraq. You haven't done that, not yet.
Even Lincoln had to sit on the Emancipation Proclamation until he had a battle that might be thought of as a victory. He had to wait a long time until that opportunity arrived. The problem was with his Generals, not with Mr. Lincoln. This time they rest with you, The President, we'll never know the quality of our military leaders!
Jesus, am I missing something here? Is our entire system shot to hell? George, are you searching for one cliff edge that doesn't crumble beneath your fingers?
So blatantly rhetorical my questions seem, yet they are sincere. I resent what's been forced upon the thinking individual. To use sincerity tempered by sarcasm only. ~
