"The Fight Between Good and Evil" -
Randy Burns
April 30, 2002

"True Story / The Real Fight.

"Okay, that's it, I'm tired of this crap.  Break it up, both of you!  Take it outside on the street where it belongs.  There's just no quit in you guys, so outside with it…now!"

I couldn't stand it anymore, Good and Evil were always going at it in my place.  It was starting to piss off my regulars, but the same regulars would piss me off too.

I'll say this, when I yelled at them the loud threats stopped immediately.

However, it did nothing to halt the fight.  I had inadvertently defined the arena for the inevitable.  Filled with anger, the both of them left their drinks on the bar and headed for the street outside.

As Good followed Evil out the door, he gave him a sucker shot to the back of the head.  Evil stumbled forward over the steps and landed face down in the road.  The crowd that quickly gathered outside was shocked!  Good did that?  I stepped out to watch it myself.  I mean, who would intentionally miss a fight between Good and Evil?

The crowd had already circled outside when Good walked down the stairs to the street.  Evil, slowly pulled himself up off the road.  His nose was broken, and blood was running down over his mouth.

Evil wiped away as much of it as he could, then he started yelling.  "You call yourself Good?"  Then Evil turned toward the crowd and pointed at each one of them.  He wasn't trying to escape the fight, he felt like venting, and so he did.

"C'mon you people, wake up!  How long will it be until you understand the truth about Good, and the lies about Evil?  You saw what just happened.  Deep inside the ignorant solidity of your thought process, it was me that shoulda done that, but who done it?  Who hit the other one in the back of the head when he was defenseless?  Oh, I suppose Good was just having a bad day or something, sure, that must be the answer!  You're idiots, each and every one of you, idiots!"

With the end of Evil's soliloquy, any sympathy the crowd might have had for him, returned apologetically to Good's corner.  Good, feeling this righteous power return, moved in on Evil for the kill.  My God, I thought, the power in his eyes, the unstoppable determination!  Would we all be witness to the end of Evil?

Good's large fist was coming down on Evil's head, when Evil surprised everyone.  I was in shock.  Evil, with his arms down at his sides, lunged up at Good's fore head from an angle.  Like an angry antelope, Evil rammed the top of his head right between Good's eyes……and it was over.  No hope of Good beating the count, any count.

Evil just stood for a few moments, looking down at Good bleeding motionless on the street.  The thinnest of grins broke over his face, then Evil turned to the crowd and spat at them from every direction.  The viewers cowered.  While the light glared from Evil's eyes, Good's blood began running down the curb's edges and into the street drains that led to the sewer. ~
