BERRIES AND GRAPES: Since I like to eat food when it's in season, here's the first recipe of all the
ingredients that's in season. And since we are in the peak of the Summer, I thought it would be good to
call this one a Summer Treat as it truly is…check it out!
INGREDIENTS:
In a large Mixing Bowl put the two kinds of Grapes and slightly mash them with a fork just to get some
juice in the bowl. Then add the Strawberries and the Raspberries and mix well. This is good all by itself. I
usually eat the whole thing myself but it could easily fuel two hungry immigrants.
CASHEW MAYONNAISE: Now for those who like Mayonnaise, here's an awesome recipe for
Mayonnaise.
INGREDIENTS:
In a food processor, put the soaked Cashews that have soaked in the refrigerator in the 4 ounces of
Distilled Water over night, and blend up with the Tomato and the Red Bell Pepper (that has the seeds
and core removed) until smooth. This is a topping for just about any non-starchy vegetable dish!
BROCCOLI CREAM SAUCE: I came home today from a 40-mile bicycle ride and wanted something real
quick and very nourishing. I looked into my fridge and saw a head of Broccoli that was just staring me
with those "Eat me Eyes"! So I steamed a whole package of it for just 2-3 minutes in about one half of
distilled water topped with a bit of basil. Just enough to get the broccoli warm and not tender at all. And
by the way, always peel the skin off the stem as it cooks faster and more evenly. Then I put the entire
broccoli and water into the Vita Mix with one half of a ripe Avocado with a little Sea Kelp and blended
until smooth. It only took about 1 minute. Now this doesn't sound like a big deal, but I have to tell you,
you'll be amazed at how good it will go over a String Bean and Rice dish I made for you several months
ago. It comes out very creamy and a knock out at any setting. If you decide to use walnuts and cashews
in it instead of the Avocado, then it would be better to use it with a Protein Meal. For optimum digestion
utilizing the principles of Food Combining from my Food Combining Guide, use the Avocado if you are
eating this sauce with a Starch Meal, but if you are using nuts in the sauce, then it could be eaten with
the Protein Meal.
GRAPE SHAKE: Every morning I always have whatever fruit is in season and it has to be ripe. Well
there are a few things in season right now, but the oranges are coming and are in abundance. I was out
to the Eagle's Nest Organic Grove where I get the bulk of my oranges. They are ready for a bumper crop
this year and have all new equipment to do it up right. But I got some of the best Persimmons you could
get anywhere on the planet. I made a drink this morning that was a fabulous treat. You almost wonder
how anything this good can be this good for you and still be legal! :
INGREDIENTS:
2 ripe Persimmons
2 pounds of fresh Red Seedless Grapes
6 ripe Bananas
Even though these ingredients have been in a couple of the last two or three recipes, this drink is sure to be a staple in your house. And it's one of those that is quick and very easy. Here's how to do it. Just wash the Grapes and let drain in a colander. And by the way, Persimmons can be optional in this recipe. But they give the whole drink an incredibly smooth texture. Put the Grapes in your Vita Mix or a good Blender and put the Persimmons and Bananas on top of it and blend for 30 seconds at the max. It's a grand slam to start the day. ENJOY!
Since I strongly urge you to eat the
kind of food that's in season and can grow where you live, but it's
snowing way up thar'! So what can one do in the Great White North?
Well it doesn't look like a northern drink, but it can be. One of the
reasons why we need to eat the kind of fruit that grows in our type of
environment is that practically all fruit is picked green to ship it and
most of them don't ripen after they're picked. In my 7-Day Guide, it
shows which ones do ripen and which ones don't.
Pineapples are one of those, which do ripen after they're picked so
here's what you do. At the local grocery store in the produce
department, you can always request that they peel and core it for you
and they are always glad to do that. I put it in the fridge and the
next morning I put in my vita mix http://www.vitamix.com/themangoman/
along with (never more than 4 ounces per person) 4 ounces of Pecans; 1
pint of Strawberries; and 1 Navel Orange! Blend for 30 seconds and
presto…….BREAKFAST!
BANANA-DATE SHAKE This morning after I had my usual 6 Navel Oranges with no more than 4 ounces
of Pecans and Walnuts cut up in a dish, I decided 3 hours later to have this shake and it was so
doggone good I couldn't hold it back from you in this week's message. Check this one out, as it's a doozie!
ØØ 1 frozen Banana (Optional)
ØØ 3 non-frozen Bananas
ØØ 6 Dates (with the pits removed)
ØØ 6 Figs
ØØ 4 Ounces of raisins
In 8 ounces of Distilled Water, soak the Dates, Figs and Raisins overnight at room temperature.
Take the 1 frozen Banana and 3 non-frozen Bananas and mix them all up in your Vita Mix
http://www.vitamix.com/themangoman/ (or high-powered Blender) with the soaked Raisins, Dates and
Figs for about 30-45 seconds. Man, this is deeeelicious…… Another Boy Howdy to boot!
CASHEW-TOMATO PROTEIN DRINK
ØØ 1 Pound of Cherry Tomatoes
ØØ 1 Stalk of Celery
ØØ 1 small Pickling Cucumber
ØØ 4 Ounces of Raw Unsalted Cashews (Soaked in 4 Ounces of Distilled
Water in the fridge over night!)
Take all the ingredients and put into your blender or Vita Mix and blend
for about 30-45 seconds! This makes an incredibly smooth, filling,
nourishing meal or a pre-meal! You'll be dancing and singing Boy Howdy
along with a Hail Mary or two I'll grant you! :>)
